Yes, we know, we’ve already seen the VW Golf GTI Mk6 in concept form – but now CAR Online reader Richard Waterson has spied these revealing shots of what appears to be the productionised hot Golf out on an ad photoshoot.
As you can see, the Golf GTI concept car won’t change much for production (one insider said it was 99% of the real thing) and UK models arrive in dealers in July 2009 from just under £22,000 for a three-door hatch. That’s a stiff 10% premium over what the original Mk5 GTI cost and perhaps a sign that the rejuvenated performance model has been a success.
In its stronger years, the GTI makes up a remarkable 10% sales volume of all Golf sales in the UK – up to 6000 cars – making ours the world’s second biggest GTI market after Germany.
Buyers can’t yet order the Mk6, but the order books will open in March 2009.
