CAR reader Dan Bailey got more than he bargained for when driving along a snowy country road in Warwickshire.
He spied a McLaren MP4-12C driving along ungritted country roads and managed to snap a video of it as it was parked-up in a layby – with the test driver enjoying what appeared to be a nice cup of tea.
Dan Bailey’s scoop – in his own words
‘It was the middle of November, in -7C temperatures, in Warwickshire. I saw someone was driving a McLaren around ungritted country roads.
‘They then stopped for a spot of tea, allowing dad and I to film it.’
McLaren MP4-12C: the background
The two-seater MP4-12C doesn’t go on sale until the first half of 2011, when it’ll wade into what McLaren Automotive calls the ‘core sports car market’ spanning from £125,000-£175,000.
Its 3.8-litre 90-degree V8 mounted amidships produces 592bhp and 442lb ft – enough for 200mph+ and 0-62mph in 3.2sec. It’ll cost £168,500 before first registration fee and road tax. Bang on Ferrari 458 Italia money, in other words.
It’s another good spot by a CAR Online reader. Well done Dan!
