As CAR reported last month, Porsche is busy testing a brand new iteration of Boxster at the Nurburgring: the Speedster.
So what’s new on the 2010 Porsche Speedster?
The car in the video features twin ‘power domes’ visible under the disguise, a distinctive feature we understand will feature on the Speedster model. Other aesthetic changes we expect include tweaked front and rear bumpers, and a lower windscreen to ensure the wind is well and truly in your hair.
Warm, hot or scorching?
The car seen testing in Germany sports large yellow brake callipers, which indicate the Speedster will have some go to match the show. PCCB (Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes) are reserved for the hottest Porsches, so we expect this Boxster to feature a tuned version of the 3.4-litre flat six engine found in the current Boxster S. Power is rumoured to be around the 320bhp mark. The car will sit lower, too, thanks to a revised suspension set-up.
How much, and when?
The new Porsche Speedster is due some time in 2010, with no word from Germany yet on a specific date or price.
Will this chop-top edition of the baby Porker be in a similar vein to the 911 Sport Classic, a limited run of 250 special edition cars aimed at the Porsche-ophile collectors’ market? Very possibly. We’ll let you know as soon as we hear the full story.
