Morgan teases new flagship sports car ahead of imminent debut

Published: 30 January 2025

Morgan has revealed the first disguised image of its new flagship sports car, set to be revealed in spring 2025.

The as-yet-unnamed new model will take the position of Morgan’s flagship model, a position previously held by the Plus Six following the discontinuation of the Aero 8 in 2018.

Wait, a new Morgan?

Yes, it doesn’t happen all that often but it’s about time for the British firm to reveal its next-generation model. The first thing to note is it will be built on a new platform called CXV, an ‘advanced evolution’ of its bonded aluminium chassis.

Said to be lighter and stiffer, Morgan says the new car ‘encompasses a range of technical features and engineering enhancements throughout’. It will, however, continue to use the same 3.0-litre inline six ‘B58’ engine from BMW as the Plus Six, and likely with minimal differences made between the two.

How about its looks?

While still wearing camouflage in the images released by Morgan, it’s immediately identifiable as one of the brand’s models, with a combination of round headlights, long bonnet and upright windscreen all hallmarks.

The front doesn’t look significantly different to the Plus Four or Plus Six, whereas the rear appears to have a more modern and sculpted look than its current crop of cars. It will likely take inspiration from the Morgan Midsummer, revealed in 2024 to celebrate the brand’s coachbuilding lineage and produced in collaboration with Pininfarina – and limited to just 50 units.

Is it a replacement for the Plus Six then?

The Malvern-based manufacturer says the new model will not be a ‘direct replacement of the Plus Six’ but will ‘occupy a rightful position at the top of Morgan’s model line-up’.

The Plus Six is, however, in the process of being retired, with the final models now in production. Morgan is closing the curtain on it with a limited run of ‘Plus Six Pinnacle’ editions, with all cars already sold out.

Morgan is yet to set a date for the reveal of its new car but has promised a launch in the ‘spring’ and said it’s now in the final stages of its development. It will join the Plus Four and Super 3 in the firm’s new line-up, which is aiming to create more differentiation between its cars.
