Not long ago we reported on the forthcoming Mercedes A25 AMG hot hatch. Now here’s proof that Daimler is preparing a new breed of pocket rockets: it’s the Mercedes B25 AMG prototype.
However, CAR’s sources say that while the B25 AMG is being tested and evaluated, it will not be signed off for production.
The fast AMG hot hatches which are coming
Merc doesn’t reckon its more sensible small car lends itself to a sportier application. Square peg, round hole and all that.
Instead, Mercedes is planning an expansion at the bottom end of the AMG line-up, with three different crackerjacks: A25, CLC25 and GLC25.
That’s a go-faster AMG version of the new A-class, the CLC coupe (think shrunken CLS) and the baby GLC SUV.
How fast are the A25 AMG, CLC25 AMG and GLC25 AMG?
All 25 series cars are to be powered by a brand-new 340bhp 2.0-litre twin-scroll turbo four mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Keeping all that power in check is a standard 4Matic 4WD system employing a Haldex VC unit.
