► Named W1, becoming the next ‘1’ car
► Official reveal on 6 October 2024

It’s official: McLaren has confirmed the name of its new P1 hypercar successor. The next ‘1’ car in the brand’s history will be called W1.

The new McLaren W1 will make its official launch on Sunday 6 October 2024. McLaren says that date is special; it marks 50 years since the McLaren won its first Formula 1 constructors’ title with Emerson Fittipaldi.

‘The McLaren W1 is defined by real supercar principles and is the ultimate expression of a McLaren supercar,’ says McLaren Automotive CEO Michael Leiters. ‘Born of our rich racing history and World Championship mindset, W1 pushes the boundaries of performance and is worthy of the ‘1’ name. Like its predecessors the F1 and McLaren P1. W1 defines the rulebook of a real supercar.’

We’ll find out more when the car is revealed on 6 October.
