► Revealed in China
► The EZ-60 may become the CX-6e
► Made by Changan
You’re looking at the Mazda EZ-60, a new electric SUV that’ll almost certainly become the Mazda CX-6e in Europe and the UK. Like the EZ-6 hatchback (which is coming to the UK as the 6e), the EZ-60 looks like a Mazda but uses Changan technology underneath.
These new official pictures show an SUV that carries a strong resemblance to the EZ-6 hatch, but also to Mazda’s own Arata concept. It could be arriving sooner than we think: our spy photographers already have pictures of the EZ-60 cold-weather testing.
What will it look like?
These new official pictures show a car that looks much like the Mazda Arata concept. Revealed in 2024 at the Beijing motor show, the SUV concept (below) previews a bold-looking all-electric SUV, and it appears the CX-6e has taken the elements of the design to production. That’s no bad thing; as the pictures above and below show, the Arata concept – like the 6e – is another strong product from Mazda’s design team.
Our recent spy pictures show a lightly camouflaged prototype winter testing, and that means it’s possible to make out some major design features at least: a Mazda-shaped grille – like the 6e’s – is evident at the front of the car, while the rear shows a lightbar similar to that on Mazda’s just revealed electric hatchback.
What else do we know?
CAR understands the CX-6e will use the same Changan developed EPA1 platform as the 6e. The EZ-6 as it’s known in China, is available as range-extender or BEV – but the European 6e is only offered in two electric powertrains, and the CX-6e could follow suit.
With that in mind, expect, a big 68.8kWh battery and a bigger 80kWh battery in the long-range car. In the 6e, the smaller battery offers a range of 298 miles and powers a 255bhp e-motor on the rear axle. That’s good for 0-62mph in just 7.6 seconds, and a top speed of 109mph.
The long range 6e car gets a range of 343 miles, and its rear-mounted 241bhp e-motor gets it to 62mph in 7.8 seconds. Top speed is the same.
Anything else?
If the Mazda 6e’s anything to go by, expect a luxurious driver-centric interior on the same level as the 6e.
We’ll update this article when we know more.
