Is Maserati busy preparing this year’s Granturismo variant? Hardly a year goes by when some new offshoot isn’t unveiled at a motor show and it seems like 2010 will be no different. Our spies have caught this revised Granturismo pacing around the Nurburgring and it looks decidedly as if yet another special edition is in the pipeline.
Maser has already launched the regular Granturismo with the 4.2-litre V8 and the S with the engorged 4.7, complete with the automatic transmission or DuoSelect options. We’ve also seen the Granturismo MC racing car concept shown back at the 2008 Paris motor show.
So what’s the news on the 2011 Maserati Granturismo?
We’re not sure yet. Our scoop photos show a black car with some wedgy new detailing on the front splitter and a noticeably different rear end with twin pipes mounted high up on the rear valance like on the Maserati Granturismo MC.
This test hack could indicate a wholesale facelift for the GT, or yet another spin-off model. Maserati has become the master of rinsing out any number of special editions, after all. The Granturismo has been around since 2007, so some technical upgrades aren’t out of the question, either.
With the 2010 Paris motor show looming, we’re sure we’ll find out soon. We’ll report back once we have the lowdown.
