Jaguar is expected to show off the production XF-R at the 2009 Detroit auto show – and development work is steaming ahead on the production version. Our latest spy photos capture the four-door on test in Coventry, England.
These new spyshots are nearly completely shorn of disguise, revealing the whopping 20-inch alloy wheels, a discrete lip spoiler on the boot, quad pipes and what appear to be reprofiled sidesills.
The XF-R is powered by Jaguar-Land Rover’s new 4997cc V8, which will be launched in 2009 as a replacement for the ageing 4.2 lump that’s served a generation of Midlands models. The new 5-0-litre eight uses direct injection for cleaner emissions and, with the R’s supercharger, is said to produce around 500bhp.
Expect the new Jag XF-R to be in showrooms by early summer 2009.
