► Bugatti to go hybrid for next hypercar
► Electrified V16 engine confirmed so far
► Official reveal on 20 June 2024

Bugatti’s new electrified hypercar will make its official debut on 20 June 2024.

The new model doesn’t just use any electrified powertrain, either. A V16 hybrid is deployed here, ending the W16 era seen with the Veyron and Chiron. Bugatti says the new engine is ‘a pure embodiment’ of its DNA that’s ‘created not just for the present or even the future, but pour l’eternité.’ The brand says that the new model will launch with ‘an all-new chassis and performance-honed body’ alongside that V16 engine.

The news arrives after we got our first glimpse of the new engine earlier in 2024, with the announcement coming with a video where you can hear the engine scream right up to its likely redline.

Bugatti’s modern-day (i.e. Veyron and beyond) history has entirely circulated around a 16-cylinder engine, with the Veyron and Chiron using a W16 configuration.

After the announcement of a Bugatti, Rimac and Porsche joint venture in 2021, there was considerable speculation surrounding whether the next Bugatti model would make the leap to battery-electric immediately. But, it seems appetite for a purely battery-electric Bugatti has cooled.

We’ll find out more about the new model when it’s officially launched on 20 June 2024.
