Remember the E46 BMW M3 CS? A limited-build run-out model that borrowed many of the performance bits from the harder-edged CSL, it was seen by many BMW aficionados as the absolute pinnacle of performance road cars.
Well now there’s another CS incoming on the BMW 4-series range, and our breath has been thoroughly bated. Sources close to the firm told CAR that we’re to expect a modest power hike over the standard M4 along with a raft of aero kit from the far more exclusive – and much more expensive – M4 GTS.
What’s expected on the new 2017 BMW M4 CS?
It’s unlikely to get trick components like the high-tech dampers or water injection, but should sharpen up a car that our testers have often earmarked as a little too sterile in its character.
We’ve seen a number of spyshots of the mystery car, which until now has kept sceptics guessing as to what the M division is cooking up next, but that wait is finally over. We can see the aero tweaks hiding under the camo in our spy photos, and there’s much of the Competition Package too.
A Chinese world debut
Slated for unveil to the public at the 2017 Shanghai motor show, we’re expecting a modest price hike to accompany the performance increase, which should ensure that the CS remains attainably appealing. Production is tipped to start in July 2017.
