► Refreshed BMW iX electric SUV due soon
► Likely a tech-focused upgrade
► Don’t expect the look to change much
BMW’s controversial iX SUV is due for an upgrade soon, but it’ll likely be more of a technology update rather than a design facelift. Cue boos and groans from the audience.
Tweaked lights and new wheel designs are sure to come as part of the mix, as illustrated by the white prototype in our spy shot images. Bulges in the lower bumpers hint there could be some minor tweaks to the aero, too.
Unlike the recent i4 facelift, our sources say there’ll be some tweaks to the powertrain arrangements for the car. The current range comprises an xDrive40, xDrive50 and M60. Our intel suggests power bumps and efficiency gains for the iX’s model line-up to keep it competitive, with a new M70 model (like the i7) being the revised flagship.
As for the car’s wild interior, we’re not expecting that to change much. The iX’s cockpit is almost famously wacky by BMW standards, but already very well finished and more intuitive than it initially appears. There’ll likely be some new materials used, and an infotainment upgrade to the latest version.
Expect to see the updated BMW iX towards the end of 2024.
