► BMW’s 2-series Gran Coupe will live on
► 1-series-inspired styling
► 2024/2025 release date
Many car manufacturers are killing of their smaller platforms, but it seems Munich has other ideas. These pictures – taken by our spy photographers – reveal the BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe will go on for at least one more generation.
The covert images show the next BMW 2-series Gran Coupe testing around public roads – so it looks to be relatively far on in its development schedule. And although BMW engineers have heavily disguised the prototype, the new Two looks to continue the design language already seen in the current 1-Series.
What engines will it have?
CAR understands it’ll run on an updated version of BMW’s UKL2/FAAR platform, and will continue to use a front-wheel-drive or xDrive transmission with a range of possible powertrains. There’s no firm intel on what’ll power it yet – other than the fact there’ll be several options to choose from.
We’re expecting to see the new 2-series Gran Coupe break cover late in 2024 or early in 2025. No EV variant appears to be planned for now.
