CAR’s spy photographers have brought us the first images of the upcoming Bentley Continental GTC Speed.
Err, Bentley have already released the Continental GTC, it’s on their website…
An understandable error, given how much the new Continental GT coupe resembles its forebears. But the Continental GTC, Supersports and Supersports Convertible models are still based on the original Continental GT that launched in 2003. This prototype bears a much more aggressive front bumper design than the existing Continental GT, leading us to believe it’s the Speed edition. Other than that, and the new folding soft top, it shares the trimmer, sharper styling cues of the Continental GT released in 2010.
Bentley’s downsized engine range
Along with the soft-top model, Bentley is due to unveil its downsized engine for the Continental GT range. Although this being Bentley, the ‘baby’ engine is still 4.0-litres of V8. Co-developed with Audi, we’re expecting direct injection, and possibly turbocharging to bring greater efficiency gains and a suitable slug of torque to move the Continental GT. At 2320kgs in 6.0-litre W12 form, it’s hardly a lightweight.
Be sure to act suitably surprised if we see the Continental GTC debut towards the end of 2011, with sales beginning in 2012.
