The joys of home charging: month 4 with the Jeep Avenger

I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve used a public charger. Ever since getting my drive widened (for cars made after the 1950s) I’ve generally been able to recharge at home using my Hive wallbox.

Expert installation of the box was painless, taking just a few hours, once the strength of the local supply was checked. The app makes it easy to start or schedule charging (useful if you’re on an energy-saving tariff) and track costs. Hive’s Alfen box itself clearly isn’t a looker but at least I opted for one without an unsightly cable attached.

When combined with chargers at work, my home-charging has meant I’ve not had to open any of the many public charging apps on my phone. A headache at the best of times.
