► Frank Stephenson reveals new range of watches
► Space-age design, quartz movements
► The first of a trilogy
Frank Stephenson has just revealed a new range of timepieces. Dubbed ‘Cosmos’ it’s the latest CV entry in a career that includes designs for brands such as BMW, Ferrari, McLaren, Maserati and Fiat.
‘It’s the age-old adage ‘car people are watch people’, said Stephenson about the new range. ‘So it was a natural step for me to get creative with timepieces too.’
‘The collection showcases the love I have for exceptional and emotionally charged design, just like what is required in designing world class cars.’
So what does a watch made by the creator of the original BMW X5 look like? Very space-age, it seems. Featuring sparking granite dials, prominent, stylized numbers and ‘floating’ hands, the Cosmos range also includes Stephenson’s logo front and centre. The designer’s signature is also imprinted on the back of the watch – just in case.
Omega Moonswatch: what you need to know
Each watch is powered by a Japanese quartz movement and comes on a rubber strap. There’ll be two more collections after this, with the trilogy inspired by land, air and sea.
