► Scalextric celebrates two Bond film anniversaries
► A new range of classic and modern machines
► When to expect deliveries
Slot car maker, Scalextric has unveiled a new range of slot cars ready for track action, which includes gold plated versions of the Aston Martin DB5 and AMC Hornet from the respective James Bond films, Goldfinger and The Man With the Golden Gun.
The DB5 commemorates the 60th anniversary of Goldfinger’s release in 1964, which instantly became a blockbuster hit. The Hornet commemorates the 50th anniversary of The Man With the Golden Gun’s release in 1974, where it performed the famous barrel roll stunt as part of the main car chase sequence. If you’re not keen on attempting to barrel roll the gold edition, a standard red Hornet is also available.
The new winter release also includes a wide range of modern and historic sports and racing cars to add to your Scalextric fleet.
Fancy a recent Le Mans Hypercar? There’s two versions of the Cadillac V-Series R, one in the classic blue and black factory livery, and the other in the red Whelen Engineering livery. The former is a scale model of the car that took third place in the 2023 Le Mans 24h.
If you’re wanting a modern supercar, the Lamborghini Revuelto finished in Arancio Apodis is also available. We’ve conducted a road test of the V12 beast, and needless to say, this scaled-down version won’t replicate the same hallowing soundtrack. But the indistinguishable styling still remains.
The list of historic motorsport icons doesn’t end there; Scalextric have even made a slot version of Graham Hill’s championship-winning BRM P57 from 1962. Carlos Sainz’s 1995 Subaru Impreza WRX is part of the line-up, and even Ayrton Senna’s Lotus 98T from the early end of his F1 career.
If you’re into classic touring cars, there’s a treat waiting for you. As part of the new line-up, Scalextric have introduced a slot version of Peter Brock’s Bathurst Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500, and new track set which includes Karl Jones’ 1988 BTCC car. If you want something different from the Fords, a couple of Rover SD1s and a Holden VL Commodore are available too, as well as Mike Hawthorn’s Jaguar MK1.
The new Scalextric car releases are available to pre-order with deliveries expected in the Winter of 2024 and early 2025.
Scalextric James Bond 007 AMC Hornet
If you don’t fancy trying to barrel-roll that gold plated AMC Hornet, then fear not: a standard version is also available in red with the little white side decal.
