► The seven quietest roads revealed
► Britain’s least trafficked routes
► Research by Avis rental specialists
Do quiet roads still exist in this traffic jam-ridden, busy age? According to new research by rentacar specialist Avis, yes they do.
It has found out where the UK’s least trafficked roads are, by using official Annual Average Daily Flow (AADF) statistics provided by the Department for Transport.
They reveal the quietest, least busy stretches of tarmac in nine regions across Britain. And the quietest roads are:
- A897 Scottish Highlands
- A481 Powys, Wales
- A3079 Beaworthy, Devon
- A5091 Penrith, Cumbria
- A686 Corbridge, Northumbria
- A1111 Lincolnshire
- A1062 Great Yarmouth, Norfolk
The only problem being, presumably, if everyone reads this research and then heads out to said quiet spots for a quick blast…
