Most extreme Nissan yet? Ahead of the 2018 Chicago motor show Nissan’s US division has built not one, but two crazy snow-ready one-offs.

First off is the Nissan 370Zki, a mad convertible snowmobile designed for smashing through snow drifts to the tune of Nissan’s high-revving V6. The brand whisked away the undercrackers of a bog-standard 370Z Roadster and added a set of Dominator snow tracks at the rear from American Track Truck Inc and heavily modified the suspension to include a lift kit.

The brakes were moved to handle the new tracks, the track has been widened by three inches and the wheel wells have grown so they cope with massive snow drifts. Still with us?

‘Prior to its debut here in Chicago, we put the 370Zki through its paces on the slopes in Wyoming where its performance heritage really came through,’ said Nissan North America’s VP for product planning, Michael Bunce. Watch the 370Zki in action in our video below:

Alongside the mad drop-top snowmobile, Nissan has also shown off an accompanying 4×4 that can even tow the 370Zki around. Called the Armada Snow Patrol, the blue vinyl-wrapped 4×4 has been kitted out with all kinds of go-anywhere equipment. Extreme off-road tyres, a two-inch suspension lift kit, foglights, side steps and an LED light bar are all standard.

Nissan isn’t averse to making special editions for motor shows. In its tie-in with the Star Wars franchise, the brand created a whole series of cars to look like vehicles from the movies and even characters at the recent LA show.
