Brick by brick: meet the 2336-piece Lego Land Rover Defender

Updated: 22 April 2023

► 75th anniversary present: the Lego 4×4
► Lego Icons Classic Land Rover Defender 90
► All 2336 pieces of it for £210

Land Rover may be jettisoning part of its name from the new parent company rebranding this week as JLR – but it can’t quite shake off its heritage. A point proven by the latest merchandise to hail from the West Midlands: this immaculate Lego Defender.

The Lego Icons Classic Land Rover Defender 90 is based on the original Defender, not the smart new Tata-era one, and it’s been produced to celebrate the brand’s 75th anniversary year.

The box contains 2336 pieces and costs a sturdy £209.99. You can see it in action in the Scottish Highlands in the promotional film below.

The scale model measures 32cm long and comes with adventure accessories, including roofrack, raised air intake, working winch and traction plates for crossing all terrain.

With brick-like aerodynamics, the original Defender is one of the neater car profiles to work in Lego form. It’s a shape we’ll never tire of.
