It’s a pretty miserable Tuesday morning as I type this, but here’s something that will hopefully brighten your day: an on-board lap of Nissan Academy winner and world-class racer Lucas Ordonez driving the 2015 Nissan GT-R GT500 Super GT racing car.
But instead of sensibly mounting the camera statically somewhere inside the car, it appears to be stuck to his face. So you can actually enjoy Ordonez checking his sight lines as he lasers his way through the traffic on ther Fuji Speedway racing circuit.

Shot during the 2015 Nismo Festival – Japan’s an annual gathering of high performance Nissan enthusiasts – that traffic is also amazing in places. In amongst the Skylines, the other GT-Rs and the Z-cars, there’s what appears to be an R90 Le Mans car from ’90s, some kind of classic prototype racer (low slung, yellow) and a surprising number of… buses. The GT500 leaves all of them for dust.
This Super GT machine races in Japan’s premier domestic championship, and is powered by a 550bhp four-cylinder 2.0-litre turbo. The performance is brutal, and competition so fierce Nissan clearly thought it necessary to blur out the in-car display during the opening moments of the video…
