► New Mk4 MX-5 and Toyota GT86 Aero
► On track at Rockingham Motor Speedway
► Which offers the purest driving thrills?
Mazda’s 2015 Mk4 MX-5 is a triumphant return to sports car first principles. Light, affordable and lively of chassis, it’s an all-new yet refreshingly old-school sports car. And, sad to say, one with few direct rivals these days. But there is one other defender of the mainstream sports car faith that treads a similar accessible-price, accessible-handling, naturally aspirated path: Toyota’s GT86.
CAR magazine’s associate editor CJ Hubbard is your guide as we let both cars loose at Rockingham Motor Speedway in Northamptonshire to see which offers the purest rear-driven thrills.

And both Mazda and Toyota battle Audi’s TT Roadster (below) in a special sports car triple test in the October issue of the magazine, on sale now – or read the feature online, via our new CAR+ service.
