► Tesla update brings in Chill Mode
► Designed for smoother driving
► Easy entry and exit fix also added
Are you the sort of person that enjoys the tranquillity and emissions-free running of your Tesla electric car, but isn’t so keen on the neck-snapping pace it’s capable of delivering?
Chill Mode takes the edge off
‘Chill Mode’ is now available on Model S and Model X variants of the California-based manufacturer’s range, included as part of an over-the-air update for the vehicles.
Tesla claims that the new mode makes acceleration more gradual and is designed to enable smoother driving. There’s no word yet on whether engaging Chill Mode could increase the vehicle’s range.
Easy entry upon request
Following a Tweet back in August 2017 from Twitter user Paul Franks, Tesla has also added an easy entry and exit system to the cars. Essentially, this programs the driver’s seat and steering to move away from the driver when they exit the vehicle and towards the driver after they’ve got in and applied the footbrake.
A good idea? Yes. An original one? No, with the feature first appearing on other vehicles well over a decade ago – but few cars have retrofitted such a feature over the air.
