CAR has won the top prize for digital innovation at the magazine publishers’ big annual awards bash.

The Professional Publishers Association (PPA) named Carmagazine.co.uk winner in the Digital Innovation of the Year category, fending off stiff competition from The Economist, Boat International and the Waitrose Food customer publishing magazine.

The judges said ‘CAR really stood out’ and praised its 2015 relaunch and digital reinvention, including our new responsive website, new story formats and huge social following which trebled to 1.2 million in the course of 18 months.

They also singled out ‘a great use of mobile, combined with truly engaging content, that sets this brand up perfectly for building its audience long into the future.’

CAR: innovating in print and online

Digital editor-in-chief Tim Pollard said: ‘CAR magazine has been innovating in print since 1962 and this PPA award is proof that we’re still stretching the boundaries on new and emerging digital platforms. We’re still focused on brilliant storytelling about cars – but now on more channels than ever before.’
