Red Bull Racing sponsor Infiniti is offering the best manufacturer competition we’ve heard of for ages: the chance to drive an F1 car, simply by test driving one of their road cars. The lucky winner will be picked from the UK to join winners from Russia and the Middle East to drive a Formula One racer under the supervision of Red Bull driver Daniil Kvyat.
Despite the sponsorship link, it’s a surprising prize: Infiniti is better known as a purveyor of alternative crossovers and luxury cars, more than sports cars. But there’s no denying it’s a money-can’t-buy opportunity.
How it works
The Ultimate Drive competition is open now. Anyone test driving an Infiniti at a UK dealer before 16 August 2015 will be eligible to enter. Click here for our review of the latest Infiniti Q50.
As might be expected with a prize like this, there’s a degree of testing required first. Twenty-five finalists will have their driving ability assessed at Rockingham Motor Speedway by a panel of judges, including Infiniti Red Bull Racing test driver Sebastien Buemi.
The winner will then be sent for further training on the Red Bull simulator in Milton Keynes before flying to Dubai to drive the old RBR racer on track with Kvyat and to attend a VIP weekend for two at the Abu Dhabi grand prix.
