Got some imagination to hand? You’ll need it to decipher what on earth the new 2017 Subaru Impreza will look like, as this annoyingly restricted teaser photograph shows only a snippet of the new Scooby ahead of its world debut later this month.
The ‘all-new’ Impreza will be shown at the 2016 New York motor show, which kicks off on 23 March. CAR will be reporting live from the Big Apple, so stay tuned for the full story on the new model.
New Subaru Impreza: the story so far
Very little has been said to accompany this new photograph. The Japanese have confirmed there will be a five-door hatchback and a four-door saloon in New York and has promised ‘upgraded in-car technology and a more spacious interior to its sleek new body design.’
We reported earlier in the week on the new platform which will underpin all future Subaru models. It has developed a modular architecture which will stretch to accommodate smaller and larger vehicles on the same box of oily bits. Happily, boxer engines and Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive are promised again.
Let’s hope that Subaru remains wantonly different to the mass market for a while longer yet.
