An updated Mazda 6 will make its debut at the 2017 Los Angeles show on 29 November – but it’s very much a US model and isn’t destined for UK shores.

Mazda’s exec saloon and estate has been ‘thoroughly re-engineered and refined’ for the US, the company says, with new engine options and subtle styling tweaks inside and out.

Badged under Mazda’s SkyActiv brand, a 2.5-litre petrol engine with active cylinder deactivation to switch between two- and four-pot running on the move will join the range.

North American buyers will also have the option of the turbocharged 2.5-litre petrol engine as seen in the Mazda CX-9 SUV.

New kit too…

Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) can now bring the car to a standing stop and pull away again, and there’s an upgraded 360deg camera system.

What else is Mazda showing in LA?

The Mazda Vision Coupe concept previously shown at the 2017 Tokyo show, plus the company’s RT24-P sports racing car and a ‘halfie’ MX-5 – half racing car, half production car.
