► The most excessive cars of Frankfurt 2015
► Best/worst of the tuning specialist stands
► Stand by for carbonfibre overload
A major motor show wouldn’t be complete without a stand or two dedicated to the specialist tuning firms for whom too much is never enough. From 986bhp limos to armoured SUVs, here’s a whistle-stop tour of Frankfurt 2015’s kings of excess.
Mansory Porsche Macan
German modification firm, and undisputed champion of excess, Mansory never disappoints. Here’s a decked Porsche Macan with carbonfibre wheel arch extensions.
Brabus Tesla Model S
On the other hand, here’s a Brabus Tesla Model S. Lots of carbon details, interior upgraded with wireless charging, and yours for €161k (around £118k).
Mansory S-class Coupe ‘Black Edition’
This isn’t called the Mansory Intimidator, but it ought to be. It’s a special ‘Black Edition’ version of the firm’s 986bhp S-Class Coupe. Nice (er?) interior (below)… And LED-lit grille badge.
Mansory Lamborghini Huracan
Mansory carbon-bodied Huracan ‘Tropheo’. Obviously.
Brabus Smart ForTwos
Someone in the Brabus paint shop has been on the disco biscuits again.
Trasco Bremen G-wagen
Need a stretched armoured G-wagen – with side pipes? If so, see Trasco Bremen, stat.
El Classico
Want a wire wheel for your modern Ferrari? The Tailor Made division can oblige.
Armoured BMW X5
Behind the scenes at BMW lurks… a pair of armoured X5s. The one furthest from the camera is a regular X5 Security with 2mm glass, the one nearer is an X5 Security Plus with 3mm glass – and so on.
Unsurprisingly, the doors are incredibly heavy – you can see the supporting window frames quite clearly. The X5 50i Security Plus as shown is €237,200 (circa £172,000).
Mazda’s carbonfibre MX-5 boot rack
Amongst a new range of accessories for the mk4 MX5 at Frankfurt, Mazda is showing off a carbonfibre boot rack. Yes, actual carbonfibre. It is the nicest boot rack you have ever seen.
