► Megane Sport Tourer UK specs and prices
► Range will start from below £19k
► On sale in UK 1 December 2016
Renault has confirmed pricing for the estate version of its new fourth-generation Megane. The ‘Sport Tourer’ will start from £18,550 when it goes on sale on 1 December 2016.
How does that compare with the Megane’s rivals?
The Ford Focus Estate currently starts from around £17,500 (albeit with a wheezy 86bhp 1.6-litre petrol engine).
You’ll need £18,980 to get your hands on a 1.2-litre 83bhp Bluemotion petrol Golf Estate, and Vauxhall’s accomplished new Astra Sports Tourer starts at £17,205 for a 98bhp 1.4 petrol.
Boot-wise, there’s a useful 521 litres (or 1504 litres seats-down): more than a Focus, but less than a Golf, and way behind Peugeot’s cavernous 308 wagon.

All trims get alloy wheels, Bluetooth, DAB and tinted windows. All bar the base Expression+ get the same portrait-layout touchscreen as the Megane hatchback.
Like the hatch, the estate range is topped by a GT variant with four-wheel steering and a Renaultsport-developed suspension setup. It’s fitted with a 1.6-litre 200bhp petrol engine and seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
Engines?
Four of ’em: two petrols, two diesels, all turbocharged.
Main petrol option is a 130bhp 1.2, with manual or auto gearbox; the 200bhp 1.6 is available only for the GT.
Diesel is a choice between Renault’s familiar 108bhp 1.5 dCi (capable of 98g/km CO2 with optional auto ’box) or a heftier 128bhp 1.6.
There’ll be more powertrain options later down the line; a more powerful twin-turbo dCi 165 diesel arrives in 2017, as does a diesel-electric hybrid.
