► 2000 ‘Stangs are coming to UK
► V8 the preferred engine
► First arrivals November 2015
Ford’s Mustang is finally on its way: the Blue Oval has started building almost 2000 UK-bound, right-hand-drive Mustangs at its Flatrock assembly plant in Michigan, North America – in time for the first deliveries to roll off the boat onto British soil in November 2015.
No surprise, most of the right-hooker Mustangs – 70% of ’em – have been fitted with the 5.0-litre V8 engine, although 5bhp down from the 415bhp left-hand drive models due to exahust manifold modifications during the conversion process, power will sit at 410bhp. The Greenpeace-friendly, 313bhp 2.3-litre EcoBoost four-cylinder make up the other 30% of orders. And 80% of all British orders specified the fastback bodystyle over the convertible, presumably for the full Bullitt experience.
The UK spec Ford Mustang
Unlike McQueen’s car, the UK orders will be brimming with 21st century technology. The 2015 Mustang is available with either a six-speed SelectShift paddle automatic transmission or a six-speed manual, the latter having proved to be the most popular on UK orders so far. Over half of buyers specified the Mustang’s Custom Pack, which includes sat-nav, an upgraded audio system, heated and cooled front seats, rear-view camera and extra chrome detailing for the more tasteful customers.
Most popular colour coming to the UK? Race Red is leading the way, picked by 23% of buyers, closely followed by Shadow Black and Deep Impact Blue. Click here to read our Ford Mustang review.
