Bentley Bentayga is released to the public

Updated: 22 March 2016

► Bentley Bentayga SUV lands in UK
► First customer cars go on sale
► 608 First Edition models are here

The Bentley Bentayga has escaped from captivity and is now roaming on public roads. Yes, the shape-shifting Bentley has finally gone on sale.

Crewe’s first SUV became the fourth Bentley product line after the first customer cars arrived on 22 March 2016. Early-bird owners were given their cars at an official handover event at the Cheshire HQ.

Visitors had a full tour of the new production line, where it takes 130 hours to build each Bentayga. Don’t worry if you weren’t among them; you can join CAR contributor Gavin Green on a tour of the line in our exclusive CAR+ magazine story right here.

Bentley Bentayga First Edition

The first crossovers off the line were the 608 First Edition models, numbered to match the metric horsepower – 608ps – output of the 6.0-litre W12 petrol engine. With its prodigious 663lb ft torque figure no wonder it can dispatch the 0-60mph dash in 4.0sec and top 187mph.

You’ll spot these early-bird Bentaygas by their Union Jack badging, illuminated tread plates and 22in black and polished alloys.

And don’t forget to check out the wrist of the owner, as they step from their towering car to their London club: the First Edition comes with one of three Breitling wristwatches, each sporting a mother-of-pearl dial and a rubber strap matching key cabin elements of the Bentayga.
