► Audi Q2 to cost from £20,230
► It’s the smallest Audi SUV yet
► On sale in UK now
Audi’s new baby crossover, the Q2, will cost from £20,230, the company has announced. It places the Q2 below the beefier £27k BMW X1 and £25k Merc GLA, and headlong against the £17k Mini Countryman.
That £20k will bag you an entry-level three-cylinder 1.0 engine; prices stretch upwards past £30k for the range-topping Audi Q2 Edition #1, which will set you back another £31,170.
Audi Q2 specs and trims
Audi follow its usual trim structure of SE, Sport and S line. Entry-level models include 16-inch alloy wheels and the Audi smartphone interface compatible with Apple and Android devices.
Sport models bag an upgrade to 17in alloys, SD-card based navigation, light and rain sensors and cloth-upholstered sports seats.
Jump up to S line trim and you’ll also get LED headlights and rear lamps, multi-function steering wheel and 18in alloys thrown in.
A new launch specification has been introduced on the Q2, which Audi calls the #Edition 1. It comes in Quantum Grey, contrasting lower body panels in Manhattan Grey and C-pillar blades in brilliant black. A black exterior styling pack and large 19in alloy wheels finish off the look.
Tech highlights
The Q2 is dripping with Audi’s latest driving assistance systems, many of which have cascaded down to the Q2 from larger cars in its range, including the standard-fit pedestrian recognition.
Adaptive cruise control with traffic jam assistance, lane-departure warnings, traffic-sign recognition and rear cross-traffic assist are all available as options.
More Q2s to come
The Q2 is available to order in UK showrooms now, but if you’ve got your eye on models topping and tailing the range you’ll have to wait a little longer. The #Edition 1 will be available to order from September 2016 as well as the 2.0 TDI 150PS with the option of quattro AWD. Buyers wanting the cheapest car in the range, the Q2 1.0 TSFI, will have to wait until the end of 2016.
