► Very light refresh for VW’s Touareg
► More tech and engineering tweaks
► Available to order now
VW’s Touareg has been updated for 2023, and you’d be hard pressed to tell the difference. The latest version of Volkswagen’s SUV is now on sale, with the more performance-orientated Touareg R version going on sale in June 2023.
First things first, the exterior has had a light going-over. There’s a new grille arrangement, new IQ.Light matrix LED headlights available and fresh wheel designs including some natty aerodynamic ones for the sportier R-Line model. At the rear, the only thing of note is the fact the VW badge now acts as part of the rear light strip, glowing red.
Inside, the Touareg’s mega-sized ‘Innovision’ infotainment display is standard across the range (it was only available on higher trims on the pre-facelift) and includes better mapping data, a new voice assistant and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. VW says the USB-C charging ports now have a higher charging wattage (up from 15W to 45W), and a 730-watt premium audio system is among the options.
VW says the Touareg’s ‘running gear’ has had some upgrades, but they’re only minor tweaks. There’s a roof load sensor as standard now, that helps the traction and suspension systems keep the car as stable as it can through hard cornering, with both the standard steel spring and air suspension systems featuring tweaks, too.
The engine range remains largely the same, including both V6 petrol and diesel options and an eHybrid plug-in hybrid version. On top of that, there’s also the not-very-exciting Touareg R (pictured below), complete with the brand’s R trimmings and power upgrades.
More details are to follow on UK specifics, but you can order your refreshed Touareg now.
