Want a slice of evidence proving how confident Skoda is these days? Here’s a cracker. This is the Vision C concept, a five-door ‘coupe’ that will be shown at the Geneva motor show in March 2014.
Is Skoda building a Mercedes CLS tribute act?
That’s the idea, and what a good one it is too. Skoda’s parent-brand VW has had much success with the CLS-aping CC – a sort of stretched, sleeker Passat. Now, Skoda is having a crack at the multi-door coupe, which is thought to share underpinnings with the fine new Octavia family hatchback.
Insiders report than Skoda’s plan is to offer BMW 6-series Gran Coupe style for 2-series money. That’d pitch the production version of the Vision C concept into a circa-£24,000-plus price bracket – the same as a top-spec Octavia. Speaking of which, hands up who wants to see a hot vRS version of this family-friendly coupe?
