► Macan Performance Package unveiled
► Available on range-topping Turbo model
► Costs £68k, commands a £5.5k premium
Been waiting for a Porsche Macan that’ll hassle a 911? Then pick up the phone and order a Macan Turbo with the new Performance Package.
That’s right: Porsche has cranked a little more out of its flagship Macan Turbo, creating a new, more expensive derivative that’ll sprint from 0-62mph in 4.4sec – the same as a PDK-equipped 911 Carrera.
Is it much faster than the regular Macan Turbo?
The Performance Package cleaves a significant 0.4sec off the Macan Turbo’s 0-62mph time, knocking it down to the aforementioned 4.4sec, while its top speed has been nudged up to 169mph – 4mph faster than the Turbo.
The boost in performance has been achieved by carrying out a few revisions to the Macan’s twin-turbo 3.6-litre V6. It now produces a total of 435bhp, which is 40bhp more than it did previously.
Torque’s also up, from 406lb ft to 442lb ft, which further helps cut in-gear acceleration times. Porsche claims a 50mph-75mph time of 2.9sec, a reduction of 0.2sec compared to the standard Turbo.
Is the upgrade just a remap, then?
Fortunately, no. The Performance Package tweaks the Macan further with a 15mm drop in ride height, a sports exhaust, bigger brakes and Porsche’s response–sharpening Sport Chrono package.
How much does it cost?
A Porsche Macan Turbo with the Performance Package will set you back £68,073, which is £5533 more than the conventional Macan Turbo.
