You’re looking at the new 2017 Porsche Panamera codenamed G2, ahead of its official unveiling later in summer 2016.

This single photograph was issued on Porsche’s official Instagram account, revealing the first officially sanctioned look at the v2.0 Panam that we’ve recently spied out on test.

This car is shorn of the disguise of those cars, however. It’s a pretty clear look at the rear end.

New Porsche Panamera: what we know

This rear photograph of the new sports saloon is artfully lit to highlight the single red light bar, running the full width across the rump of the car.

It’s reminiscent of the retro-styled horizontal lamps seen on recent 911s, plus the Sport Turismo concept car from 2012 (which also pointed to a new Panamera sporting brake; watch this space).

Note also the bi-partite split spoiler, which lifts up at speed to squash the rear of the car into the tarmac; the confident Porsche script across the middle; and the aggressively swollen rear haunches, which echo the 911 yet wrap around what’s said to be an even more comfortable, efficient and sporting four-door.

Stay tuned to see the full details, photos and news of the new Panamera a little later this summer.
