► Classic Porsche 914 with a modern twist
► Flat-six from 984-generation Cayman S
► Carbon body, adjustable suspension
Fifteen Eleven Design has unveiled its latest project, an updated Porsche 914. An often-overlooked classic, the 914 has been totally reimagined with performance and styling upgrades. Available to order now in both left- and right-hand drive, the updated 914 should enter production this year.
The biggest change to the standard car is a 3.4-litre flat-six engine from the 987-generation Cayman S. New Brembo disc brakes replace the originals while the suspension gains adjustable coil-over dampers. Eighteen-inch Fuchs wheels replace the standard rims and come equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres.
‘Our vision is to re-create classic cars into modern-day restorations which anyone would be proud to drive,’ said Chris Mellors, managing director of Fifteen Eleven Design. ‘It has an impressive specification that should address the pitfalls of the original.’
The car will retain the overall styling of the original but makes use of widened carbonfibre body panels. ‘Moby Dick’ style LED lights have been added to the front while the interior has been retrimmed in leather and sports Recaro buckets. Like the original, this 914 will be equipped with a targa roof – but here it will be transparent.
It also makes a nice change from seemingly endless (but cool) reimagined classic 911s. Do you agree? Be sure to sound off in the comments below.
