Mini JCW 1to6 – an ode to the manual Mini

Updated: 18 May 2023

► Limited edition Mini JCW 1to6 released
► Only 999 worldwide, 150 of those for UK
► On sale now, priced from just under £40k

The Mini John Cooper Works 1to6 is an unashamed nostalgia trip, with its six-speed manual gearbox and focus on the joy of driving.

This limited edition is set to be one of the final chances to get an old-school petrol engine and manual gearbox combo in the Mini family – as the brand is soon to stick to automatic EVs in the future.

The Mini John Cooper Works 1to6 (named after its transmission pattern) comes equipped with a 228bhp 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine. In the standard Mini JCW, it’s enough to promise 0-62mph in 6.3 seconds.

What makes this Mini JCW 1to6 special?

Only a very limited number of the JCW 1to6 will be made – 999 in total worldwide and just 150 in the UK. This exclusivity should boost its appeal, but there are some specification enhancements to further entice punters wanting a last-of-the-line manual Mini.

All 1to6s will be finished in Midnight Black paint, with Piano Black exterior details. The 18-inch allow wheels are also, you guessed it, in black. Breaking the black theme up slightly is a bonnet stripe and various 1to6 Edition badges dotted around on the C pillar and at the rear.

Inside, the tribute to the manual gearbox continues, with the 1to6 emblem featuring on the door sills, floor mats, door key and on the Nappa leather steering wheel. You’ll be in no doubt where you money went.

There is also a large ‘One of 999’ detail on the glass roof and a smaller one to the left of the steering wheel.

Other details include red leather stitching and red ambient lighting, while stainless-steel pedals are standard fit.

What equipment does the JCW 1to6 come with?

There are no choices to be made when it comes to the 1to6: a single, well-equipped kit list comes as standard. You get heated front seats, powered door mirrors, a reversing camera and parking assistance with front and rear distance control.

The tech list includes an 8.8-inch touch control with navigation, Apple Carplay, wireless phone charging, a digital dashboard and head-up display and a Harman Kardon sound system.

All of which explains a somewhat inflated price. If you want one, the 2023 Mini JCW 1to6 will set you back £39,600, when it goes on sale from 20 May 2023.
