► Announced at Pebble Beach
► Twin-turbo V8
► Priced between Senna and Speedtail
Well this was unexpected. McLaren has announced a new roadster at Pebble Beach, and it’s destined to slot into the Woking firm’s range-topping Ultimate Series – that’s the same one as the P1, Senna and forthcoming Speedtail.
Although we don’t have any real pictures of the roadster just yet, a single sketch shows sweeping lines and a 720S-like side profile, along with dihedral doors.
The as-yet-unnamed two-seater will differ from both the Senna and the Speedtail, with McLaren promising the ‘purest distillation of road-focused driving pleasure and an unrivalled sense of driver connection with the surrounding environment.’
It’ll use a twin-turbocharged version of the V8 in the Senna, and carbonfibre construction will make it the lightest road car Woking has made.
Only 399 examples will be produced, and McLaren says it’ll be priced between the £750,000 Senna and the £2.1 million Speedtail. It should arrive on the market in late 2020.
We’ll update this story when we know more.
