Christian von Koenigsegg has confirmed at the 2018 Geneva motor show that an Agera RS successor is not too far away.
While at the brand’s stand at the show showing off two bespoke Regera creations, the brand’s head honcho dropped a very clear nod that next year’s show will be one to watch for the Swedish hypercar maker. ‘We are working on a replacement for the Agera RS, which you will see at the next [2019] Geneva motor show,’ he said during the press conference.
Meanwhile, the two special Regera models have been brought to the Geneva show to demonstrate two entirely different sides to the high-tech hypercar – sport and luxury.
The Ghost package model is the sportier of the two, finished in Crystal White with carbonfibre running across the centre strip and orange detailing. Aerodynamic aids include a huge front splitter and dinky rear winglets that complement the active rear spoiler. Koenigsegg calls the interior ‘fiercely energetic’ – code for very orange, with carbonfibre trim and polished aluminium accompanying the bright leather upholstery.
Meanwhile, the Regera d’Elegance is finished in ‘Swedish Blue’, with blue tinted and exposed carbonfibre and green stripes. The interior is finished in ‘a Scandinavian material notable for its luxurious texture, dexterity and the sustainable manner in which it is manufactured.’
Koenigsegg’s ‘Tresex’ carbonfibre wheels are fitted, shod in high-performance Michelin PilotSport 4S rubber.
Fancy some stats to remind you? The Regera uses a twin-turbo V8 engine and the brand’s Direct Drive powertrain system=, good for 1479bhp and a 0-249mph launch in ‘less than 20 seconds’.
Alongside the new Regera versions, Koenigsegg is also celebrating 25 years in the business, by including one of its most iconic cars on its stand: the CCX. Koenigsegg says the CCX was the first of its cars to get worldwide homologation, so it’s a pretty pivotal point for the brand.
