Infiniti M: the new Japanese 5-series

Updated: 26 January 2015

Ahead of its official unveiling on the 16 August 2009 at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegence, Infiniti today issued this teaser shot of the new M saloon. The new exec will fit above the G37 in the current Infiniti line-up.

Not giving much away, are they? So what do we know about the new Infiniti M?

Technical details are hard to come by at this stage but expect the M to be rear-wheel drive and feature V6 and V8 petrol powerplants. Also expected is a diesel for the UK and European oil-burning markets.

And remember the Essence GT concept? That swoopy coupe had an advanced hybrid engine that was tipped to appear under the hood of the M saloon to give it the eco credentials Infinitis have desperately missed until now.

This will be the third M to grace American and Japanese shores, but the first to come to the UK and Europe. So expect aggressive pricing and stacks of equipment as standard.
