► New electric city car
► A quick-fire briefing
► 79-mile range, £12,999
The company that brought us the G-Wiz is back with a new four-seater electric commuter solution called the e2o. As per its predecessor, it’s highly compressed, though this time it has the unfortunate appearance of a Proton Savvy crushed by a wardrobe rather than a mutilated wheelie bin.
Power ranger
Mahindra claims a 79-mile range, nine-hour charging time using a domestic plug, and reckons the e2o costs less than a tenner a week to run in the city.
Top speed is 63mph; they don’t say how long it takes to get there…
Racing technology?
Opt for the range-topping TechX variant and you get a remote access app which includes the ability to unlock the doors and an 8-mile emergency range, fast charging (95% in 90mins) and on-board telematics based on the system used by the Mahindra Formula E racing car. Really?
No laughing matter
Priced from £12,999, all models get dual airbags and stability control as standard, while the £14,999 TechX adds air con, alloys, leather, reversing camera and a giant paper bag. Ok, maybe not the last one.
