► One-off Ford Focus RS for Forza
► Unveiled by the Stig at Gamesom
► Shown alongside new GT supercar
Ford has collaborated with the makers of the popular Forza Motorsport gaming franchise for Xbox to create a bespoke Focus RS hot hatch to be shown at this week’s Gamescom show in Cologne, Germany.
The livery of this particular RS was designed by Forza players and this car has been wrapped ahead of Europe’s largest gaming trade fair, which opens today. Top Gear’s Stig drove the car to the event.
Why Ford’s supplying cars to Forza Motorsport 6
Many manufacturers see the potential in exciting gamers about their products, and Ford is no different. The Focus RS Mk3 is a very digital kinda hot hatch: with 4wd, a lairy Drift Mode developed in tandem with Ken Block and Launch Control, it is an ideal match for the digital generation.
The stunt is to mark the launch of Forza Motorsport 6 for Microsoft’s latest Xbox One console. The latest edition will feature both the Focus RS and GT supercars, both of which will land in showrooms in 2016. The GT is one of the hero cars of the latest Forza game, which goes on sale in Europe in autumn 2015.
