Ferrari KC23: mysterious Goodwood one-off revealed

Updated: 19 July 2023

► That Ferrari at Goodwood revealed
► Based on the 488 Evo 2020
► Just a one-off

If you were at Goodwood last weekend you may have seen a mysterious Ferrari parked next to the already seen Daytona SP3. It turns out you were looking at this, the new KC23. The latest product from Maranello’s ‘Special Projects’ programme, the new car was commissioned by one of the Prancing Horse’s leading collectors.

The brand describes the new track-only car as ‘a bold and extreme vision of what the closed wheel racing of the future may look like,’ and from the outside at least, it looks like the brief has been nailed.

Give us some specs?

The KC23 may look new, but it uses the tried and tested chassis of the 488 GT3 Evo 2020. To that end, its bespoke bodywork houses a 3.9-litre twin-turbo V capable of pushing out 592bhp and 516lb ft of torque to the rear wheels. Little wonder the KC23 is designed exclusively for non-competitive track use only.

What about the looks?

To these eyes the KC23 looks like Maranello’s take on Porsche’s recent 935 homage, but it’s the vision of the Ferrari Styling Centre led by Flavio Manzoni. Every panel of the 488 Evo 2020 has been redesigned whilst retaining the downforce and cooling capabilities of the original bodywork. There’s active aero now too: a fence behind the front wheels helps balance the downforce from the huge rear wing.

Inside Ferrari engineers have kept the KC23 as true to the 488 Evo as possible, with the addition of extra comforts for the passenger side – not a requirement of the original car.
