► 805bhp EV with claimed 248-mile range
► Styling inspired by the Audi Sport Quattro
► Just 30 will be built, costing just shy of £1 million
Fans of Group B rejoice, the Audi Sport Quattro is back and this time it’s an EV. German company E-Legend has revealed the EL-1, an incredibly exclusive 805bhp EV that draws inspiration from the iconic Audi Sport Quattro S1 rally car.
Powered by three electric motors and featuring an 80kWh battery, the EL1 should have a 248-mile range. However, in Sport Plus mode it’ll only last two laps of the Nürburgring Nordschleife before needing a recharge. 0-62mph will only take 2.8 seconds.
Whereas the original Sport Quattro featured Kevlar and glassfibre in its construction, the EL1 makes use of a lightweight carbon monocoque to give it a weight of 1680kg. The body features three-way adjustable suspension and a bespoke spoiler while the interior will feature multimedia connectivity, aircon and a rear-view camera.
E-Legend has confirmed only 30 examples will be built, priced at roughly £762,000 (€890,000) before taxes.
E-Legend has also confirmed that two further rally-inspired EVs will follow in the future, both with the same 30 car production run. An EV-powered Peugeot 205 T16 or Ford RS2000 would suit us perfectly.
Audi has so far been reluctant to introduce a proper successor to the famed Quattro, although a handful of concepts have been showcased, the most recent being the 2014 Sport Quattro Concept.
