► Bentley Continental GT3
► New 550bhp+ racer set for 2018
► Racing debut at Blancpain Endurance Cup
Crikey, doesn’t this look ace? This is the new Bentley Continental GT3 racer – Crewe’s latest stripped out track car that’s here to destroy whatever’s in its path with imperious grace.
The new Conti GT3 is based on the all-new Continental GT revealed earlier in 2017, but has undergone serious steroidal treatment to beef it up, ready for the 2018 GT3 season.
Bentley’s previous Conti GT3 racer entered 528 races throughout its four-year lifespan, scored 120 podiums and 45 wins. Quite a decent amount of pressure for the new one then…
This looks beastly…
Doesn’t it? Bentley’s motorsport director, Brian Gush, says that the new car ‘leaves no area or system untouched in the search for even better performance and the early test results are promising.’
Under the menacing bodywork is a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing ‘in excess of 550bhp’, which is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential transmission with a carbonfibre propshaft and limited-slip diff. It’s a flyweight, tipping the scales at less than 1300kg, too.
But enough about the tech specs – just look at it. Carbonfibre is used in the front splitter, massive rear wing and several body panels, and the 18-inch BBS Motorsport rims are designed to reduce unsprung weight.
When will I see it?
Its race debut is at the opening round of the 2018 Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup at Monza in Italy.
