- 2022’s Audi RS4 Avant
- New Competition package arrives
- New pack dials up the dynamics
Audi’s venerable hot estate, the RS4 Avant, is benefitting from a new Competition package for 2022 to help keep it fresh. The new package also extends to the RS5, too, and is expected to arrive on European versions later in 2022.
You know the drill of these cars by now: there’s a 444bhp twin-turbo V6 under the bonnet, as well as quattro all-wheel drive and a suitable pronounced body kit over a standard A4/A5.
The Competition pack adds even more to the RS4 and RS5 recipe. Both cars benefit from new black trimmings (or optional carbonfibre ones) and fresh 20-inch wheel designs. The RS4 comes with matrix LED headlights, while the RS5 benefit from those with laser light functionality in them. Inside, loads of the controls are upholstered in Alcantara and the seats are finished in a rather tasty leather upholstery with a honeycomb detail on it.
But the new pack goes more than skin deep. The top speed is raised to 180mph and you’ll be able to hear more of the engine, as Audi has removed some of the sound deadening between the engine bay and the passenger cell. Oh, and the fact that the new Competition cars benefit from an RS sports exhaust system as standard. The brand has also fitted its dynamic steering programming, ceramic brakes and its quattro sport differential as standard, too.
On top of that, you can specify a new RS ‘sport suspension system pro’ – Ingolstadt code for manually adjustable coilovers – as well as the option of Pirelli P-Zero Corsa tyres, so you can set a new lap time after you’ve done the school run.
Audi UK says it is ‘evaluating the product proposition for the UK market,’ and would treat it like a limited edition if it were to make it here. Stay tuned.
