► Alpina B7 now in the UK
► Bruising saloon can hit 205mph
► On sale now from £115k
Alpina’s über-powerful flagship, the Alpina B7 Biturbo, has hit the UK and it ain’t playing around.
First revealed at the 2016 Geneva motor show, the brutish B7 glistened in a deep metallic blue on Alpina’s stand with claims of supercar performance.
The original predictions were 600 metric horsepower (592bhp) and a top speed of 193mph but since then power has been marginally upped to 608PS (600bhp) and an all-out top speed of 205mph. The zero-to-62mph sprint is dealt with in in four seconds.
That 205mph speed rating means that the big luxo-barge can keep up with an Audi R8 V10 Plus and outrun a Porsche 911 R, Nissan GT-R and McLaren 570GT.
The 4.4-litre V8 has two ‘specially developed’ turbochargers, and uses a new indirect intercooler system and additional radiators to keep it cool. There’s an eight-speed automatic transmission sending the power to the rear wheels.
There has been a touch of weight-saving here, too; the 7-series’ Carbon Core is enhanced by a few choice Alpina modifications. The A-, B- and C-pillars are now carbonfibre, as is the transmission tunnel and windscreen header.
‘Not long ago, only the most focused £million hypercars could touch 200mph. Remarkably, Alpina has achieved this alongside superb ride quality and refinement at lower speeds, and all for just £115,000,’ says Alpina’s GB brand boss Gary Lott.
Alpina’s classic 20-spoke alloys feature as standard, with 20s filling the arches as standard and 21s available as an option. All UK cars are long-wheelbase models.
It’s on sale now from £115k in the UK.
