Ranking: 32
Year of release: 1981.
The car: Citroen Traction Avant.
Why it’s special: There’s nothing like using a gorgeous Citroen in a French film.
Best bit: The Traction Avant blowing up, only for another one to appear behind it.
Pub fact: Is it a 1954 Traction 11CV Normale, or a bad restoration with ‘15 Six’ bumpers? We doubt that’s an original colour, too.
Plot overview: Jules is a young mail courier obsessed with an opera singer who objects to her voice being recorded. He manages to make a bootleg tape of her singing live, but when it gets mistaken for a tape containing vital evidence about a human trafficking investigation, he is chased all over the city by men who will do anything to retrieve it.
For: The Traction Avant isn’t just cool in Diva, but was a favourite of the French Resistance.
Against: You won’t love this car if you’re into sideways car chases.
CAR verdict: It’s a proper Citroen, but Diva doesn’t feature a proper car chase.
