Monterey Car Week is a real boon for the car enthusiast.
The week itself comprises major car events in their own right, including the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and The Quail: A Motorsports Gathering. But it also features auctions from the likes of RM Sotheby’s (where some of the most expensive cars ever have been sold), further motorsports events at the nearby Laguna Seca Raceway and even more quirky shows like the Concours d’Lemons.
Now, though, it’s a series of automotive events that has become more than just a space for the (sometimes ultra-rich) enthusiast – car makers are taking to the show to reveal new models.
Monterey Car Week is back at it again for 2023 between 11 and 20 August, and the number of new car debuts is increasing. Scroll down for everything we know about 2023’s Monterey Car Week new car debut list.
Monterey Car Week 2023: A-Z of new car reveals
Aston Martin
DB12 Volante
After the coupe, comes the convertible. Aston’s new DB12 super-GT was almost certainly going to get its own Volante version, so the brand has decided to launch it at the Car Week. Aston says the new DB12 Volante will make its public debut at The Quail on Friday 18 August.
BAC
Updated Mono
BAC, famous for its hardcore single-seat Mono, has announced a new-generation Mono at Monterey Car Week. Updates include refreshed aero from the harder Mono R revealed a few years back, as well as more power from its 2.5-litre engine.
Bentley
Bentayga EWB Mulliner
Stretching out in a Bentley has never been plusher. The Bentayga EWB Mulliner is the brand’s flagship for those who like to spend their time in the back seats. New trims, new colours, bespoke exterior details and even plusher materials inside are all part of the mix.
Baby Bentley Blower
‘Blower Jnr’ is an 85 per cent-scale model of one of Bentley’s most iconic models in its long history. It’s been created by the Little Car Company and it runs on electric power. Bentley says it’ll do 65 miles and top out at 45mph, and its charging port is hidden in its ‘Blower’. Unlike other Little Car Company products, however, the baby Blower is road legal.
Ford
Mustang GTD
No, not a diesel. It’s a hardcore Mustang designed to ‘make Porsche, Aston Martin and Mercedes sweat’ according to boss Jim Farley. It’s got a screaming supercharged V8, clever active suspension and aero and best of all – it’s road legal.
Lamborghini
Lanzador
Sant’Agata’s long-awaited new car – which will be its fourth model line alongside Revuelto, Huracan (and its replacement) and Urus. It’s shown as a near-production concept car for a new, pure-electric model that’s expected to launch in 2028.
Maserati
MCXtrema
Maserati MCXtrema – track-only supercar with 724bhp
Billed as a track day supercar based off the MC20, the Maserati MCXtrema makes its debut at the Quail. Maserati says the in-house project is: ‘a car dedicated to the excellence of gentleman drivers and racing cars’ enthusiasts, designed to impress and to ignite passion for extreme racing.’ Expect an angrier version of the MC20’s Nettuno V6 and a whole load of aggressive aero.
Mercedes-Benz
AMG GT
The new GT model shares a lot with the latest SL, including its powertrain mix – but expect a more aggressive exterior design.
Vision One-Eleven
Design chief Gorden Wagener’s vision for a revival of Mercedes’ C111 concept car will also make an appearance during the Car Week, as well as the wacky G-Class Moncler show car.
Pininfarina
B95
A big show for Automobili Pininfarina. The Car Week’s new debut is the B95, described only as ‘an exquisite design and technical masterpiece for discerning clients.’ The car-making spin-off of one of the most famous design houses says the B95 has a design influenced by the Pura Vision below.
Pura Vision
A design showcase meant to preview the future of Automobili Pininfarina cars. The Pura Vision concept car was actually revealed in private during 2022’s Monterey Car Week, exclusively to Pininfarina’s clientele. This year, the concept makes its public debut.
Battista Nino Farina
A special edition of the Battista designed to celebrate the heritage and history of Giuseppe ‘Nino’ Farina – the world’s first Formula One world champion. Each of the Nino Farina editions is finished in exactly the same colour scheme, including a deep metallic red with flashes of white and some tasty gold wheels.
Rolls-Royce
Droptail
Another extraordinary coachbuilt Rolls-Royce bowed in at the 2023 Monterey Car Week: the beguiling Droptail one-off. It’s a two-seater roadster stretching to an extravagant 5.3 metres long and redolent of drop-tops from decades past.
Zenvo
Aurora
The wild Danish supercar maker that once designed a model with a tilting active wing has returned. Back in March 2023, it announced the Aurora, which makes its public debut at The Quail. The new Aurora is a quad-turbo V12-powered screamer available in track-spec Agil or road-focused Tur variants, and features e-motors, active aero and ballistic performance.
